Your Role: The field manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing the field operations of two City-wide program services: Graffiti Free NYC and CleaNYC as part of the NYCEDC Quality of program. The Field Manager will enforce the programs strategic priorities and assist in fostering goodwill throughout communities in the five borough of NYC.

Program Description:

Graffiti-Free NYC: Uses customized vehicles with power washers and paint sprayers to clean graffiti throughout the City. At full capacity, the program operates 24 trucks and has a staff of 53 members.

CleaNYC: Currently operating in the pilot stage and expected to launch late fall of 2017 is a city-wide sidewalk cleaning service addressing commercial and industrial neighborhoods throughout the City. CleaNYC will Operate (14) customized high pressure surface cleaning vehicles and will have a staff of approximately 32 workers.

The programs operate out of a base in Brooklyn and a base in the Bronx.

NYCEDC partners with The Doe Fund to employ the workers who conduct graffiti removal and operate the equipment to clean sidewalks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supervision and management of all field supervisors and mechanics providing graffiti removal and sidewalk cleaning services.
  • Oversee delegation of assignments and fleet vehicles dispatch.
  • Oversee and monitor field supervisors' daily activities and performance. Ensure that field supervisors are overseeing work crews' delivery of services.  
  • Ensure the information reported by the supervisors and collected by the crew for the assignments is accurate. Ensure daily records are maintained.
  • Monitor and continually improve digital data collection through implementation of new data collection tools.
  • Ensure crews and supervisors are following appropriate program policies and procedures.
  • Provide regular reports including specified metrics.
  • Oversee supplies distribution, daily inventory, back stock and supply purchases.
  • Oversee, manage and prioritize fleet mechanics maintenance and repair work on fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Serve as the project manager for construction, improvements and general maintenance of the two bases.
  • Assist in training staff on equipment operation, maintenance and program other operational protocols.
  • Respond 24/7 to all EDC and QOL program services requests and special project assignments.
  • Assist with coordination of public and media events to showcase the programs.
  • Assist in coordination, dispatch and supervision of QOL program work crews during snow storms. Perform snow removal services to assigned EDC managed properties.
  • Make recommendations to human resources re: hiring, termination and disciplinary actions.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience managing a program of over 30 workers.
  • Experience in training staff and ensuring high quality performance
  • Experience managing inventory and supply purchases
  • Experience providing regular reports and managing data quality
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to set priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience tracking project milestones and implementation of new processes and procedures
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • High proficiency in using tablets and other technology for data collection and management, web-based tools, a digital routing system
  • Experience working with and managing contractors
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Basic mechanical knowledge in electrical, automotive and machinery repair
  • Ability to work out of many sites throughout the City as needed
  • Valid NYC Driver's License with minimum 5 years driving experience
  • Geographical knowledge of NYC
  • Pass a driving test
  • MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual Spanish and English
  • Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in working with underserved populations such as formerly homeless, incarcerated or substance abusers
  • Technical knowledge in machinery and equipment repair
  • Experience working with detailed diagrams and drawings
  • Spatial planning skills
