Job Description

9Health has brought free and reduced cost health screenings to Colorado communities for 38 years, with its genesis coming from KUSA/9News. For the past 30 years, it has operated as a standalone non-profit supporting 14,000 volunteers running 120 health fairs annually. 9Health is poised to increase its health and wellness impact and opportunity substantially in the coming years through increased utilization of its media and low-cost health innovations.

The Vice President, Operations & Programs will oversee all health-specific operations of the organization, including Health Fairs, Corporate Health Fairs, Diabetes Prevention and lifestyle change programs, and future digital and in-person health & wellness services.

This position will bring the expertise required to effectively assess, analyze, evaluate, and make recommendations for near-term and long-range strategic plans/directions, implementation and execution of current and new programs & innovations, service quality control, and strategic partnership development.

The Operations/Program VP will lead all health program areas, including new program development, currently including ensuring efficacious customer health information & education is conveyed in the right place/right time/right way; new health program development (e.g. vDPP); health information alignment and analysis throughout the organization; and training, quality and health outcome measures.

The Vice President will be an essential partner in the executive leadership team and 9Health's strategic direction and innovation development.


  • Effectively assess, analyze, evaluate, and make recommendations for near-term and long-range strategic plans/directions, implementation and execution of current and new programs & innovations, service quality control, and strategic partnership development.
  • Provide both tactical and strategic input to CEO and Executive Team based on operational needs, forecasts, and results.
  • Oversight of health-related operational aspects of 9Health, including:
    • Health and Wellness services
    • Medical & Non-medical Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement
    • Client & Customer Services
    • Health Information Data and Technology
  • Evaluate and recommend priorities for medical/health/wellness upgrades/updates, and monitor the overall public health direction and related issues. Work with the staff and the Medical Advisory Committee to substantiate the evidence for all screenings to ensure they are complementary to trends and guidelines of other significant/appropriate health monitoring and organizations. Guide day to day medical decision making as it relates to all medical issues and make recommendations to CEO and Medical Advisory Committee.
  • Develop site relationship strategy with medical volunteer leadership.
  • Establish policies that promote an organizational culture aligned with the company's strategy and vision.
  • Establish health outcome goals, required data and metrics, and capture and evaluate program performance.
  • Manage Fair Liaison function as primary connection to all Health Fairs.
  • He/She will attend Board of Trustees and Committee meetings as needed, and provide staff leadership to the Medical Advisory Committee.
  • Provides management and coaching to direct reports and volunteer teams, including conflict resolution, to best effectuate organizational goals, strategies and performance.
  • The VP provides support to: Grant writing and fundraising efforts, Media initiatives, Fair site development, and Marketing to assure medical "correctness" in marketing materials and live presentation on both TV and social media platforms.
  • Develop strategic alliances and partnerships with medical, public health, and wellness organizations, in concert with the President/CEO and other staff, to advance the mission, image, and opportunities of the organization.
  • Represent the organization in a variety of capacities, including with external organizations and speaking engagements, as assigned.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by the President/CEO.

  • Successful achievement of health outcome, business intelligence, customer service, and financial goals and strategic objectives.
  • Cultivation of stakeholder and partner relationships to advance program growth & excellence.
  • Successful volunteer recruitment and support requirements for mission and strategy achievement.
  • Leadership and development of staff members and teams, with appropriate problem solving to achieve results.
  • Health & customer data and IT system development and service levels.
  • Partnership and communication with President/CEO.
  • Policy compliance and procedures.
  • Response and quality of communications.

Job Requirements


  • Proven experience as Chief Operating Office or similar relevant role.
  • Clinical (PA, NP, DO, or MD) and/or Public Health experience and education desired.
  • Significant new program development & implementation experience required.
  • BSc/BA in Business Administration or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus. 
  • Positive, professional, and reliable with an outgoing demeanor.
  • Self-motivated and able to handle and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Able to work independently or cooperatively with a variety of people.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Strong training, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Program and project management skills.
  • Able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
